Michael Scarborough produced a whirlwind innings as the Craven League record book was ripped to shreds by Oakworth.

Scarborough smashed 133 off only 40 balls in just 44 minutes and helped his side compile a Craven league record score of 456 for six in just 45 overs against Division Two side Jimmy Nelson's.

He was at the crease for only 11 overs and his knock included a remarkable 14 sixes and ten fours.

Scarborough's exploits tended to take the spotlight away from Robert Hopkinson, who was top-scorer with an excellent 147.

His scoring rate was hardly pedestrian either. He compiled his runs from just 88 balls and struck seven sixes and 14 fours. Graham Rankin added 58.

Ten-man Nelson's were then bowled out for 93 to lose by the small matter of 363 runs!

The league's previous record score was Cowling second team's 416 for four against Skipton CI in 1994.

There was a close game between Skipton CI and Denholme. The visitors batted first and started brightly with 67 for the first wicket.

They were unable to build on the good foundation though and struggled to 132 for seven at the end of their overs.

Skipton were struggling at 58 for five before a partnership of 68 by skipper Nick Williamson (59 not out) and John Drake (24) took them to the verge of victory.

Three quick wickets set the nerves jangling and the last four runs were scampered as victory was achieved in the 40th over.

Mark Jones (52 not out) and Steve Welch (40) set up Cull-ingworth's eight wicket win.

Glusburn upset Sutton in the South Craven derby. They made 173 for nine, David Barton top-scoring with 36 and Justin Holdsworth taking five for 23.

Sutton could only muster 101 in reply. Phil Taylor (5-14) and Craig Watts (4-32) did the damage for the winners.

Keighley TC had no answer to Ingrow, making only 42 and going down by ten wickets.

A timely knock of 40 by David Flounders helped Pen-dle Forest beat Airedale by 49 runs.
