In 1909, "Cockle" Sarah Hartley, well known Bradford character, died.

In 1914, Bradford Cinderella Club's new Holiday Home was opened at Hest Bank.

In 1916, the Bradford Painter's strike was settled.

A new standard for the women's section of the Bradford branch, Royal British Legion, was dedicated at All Saints Church, Little Horton. The old standard was laid up after 25 years' use. Representatives of each branch in the Bradford group, together with the Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Walter Johnson, and the chief executive of Bradford Metropolitan Council, Mr Gordon Moore, were at the service.

Mr J. W. Call, Bradford Corporation's Director of Public Cleansing, is disappointed at the amount of waste paper which is still going into Bradford dustbins with the rest of the refuse, in spite of the urgency of salvage. He was up at the tip yesterday and was sadly surprised at the amount of paper there was. "We collected 185 tons of paper, which is another increase, but I fully expected getting 200 tons. We can only increase collections if householders will put their waste paper on one side for us," he said
