Gary Walsh saw a specialist today after ruling himself out of Bradford City's last Premiership game.
The keeper, voted player's player of the year, is still having trouble with the knee injury that forced him to quit at Leeds during the pre-match warm-up on Sunday.
But he stressed it was not a repeat of the problem which sidelined him for nearly a year and needed two operations.
Walsh said: "I've had this since the Everton game when I collided with a post as I made a save. I'm seeing the doctor to have it flushed out - hopefully it's nothing to worry about. I hardly trained at all last week and when we got on to the pitch I felt it again. Being left-footed I couldn't kick out, so there was no way I could have played on it.
"It's disappointing that I'm now going to miss the Coventry game, but at least it will be nothing more than that.
"I've been quite pleased with the season personally and it's always an honour to be rewarded by your fellow players. That's the second time that has happened to me. I just want to get this sorted out quickly so that I'll be fine again for the next pre-season."
Aidan Davison will stay in goal for Saturday's clash of the relegation rivals at Highfield Road, despite being hit for six by Leeds. City boss Jim Jefferies is not tempted to throw in teenager Jon Wors-nop, although the squad will contain some youngsters.
Jefferies, who has made a goalkeeper one of his top summer targets, said: "Aidan was brought in right at the last minute so mentally he didn't really have time to prepare. Ian Nolan also hadn't played for a long time.
"Leeds sensed we were vulnerable and capitalised on it. But maybe it also proved a point about the way we have been playing. When you are up against a better-quality side and try to have a go and be open then that sort of thing can happen.
"You can afford to be a bit more open against teams in the middle and lower half of the table, although other managers have commented about the chances they get.
"Gary Walsh quite rightly got the player of the year and lots of man of the matches because he has been getting a lot to do.
"When you are playing more openly it may be pleasing to the eye, but it does give the other team opportunities. And if Gary Walsh hadn't been in tip-top form we could have lost other matches heavily."
City will play neighbours Huddersfield Town at the McAlpine Stadium in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday, August 7.
