The two companies running the failed Life Force project - Bradford's answer to the faith zone in the Millennium Dome - have been officially wound up by a liquidator.
St Peter's House Trading Ltd and St Peter's House Bradford Ltd were set up to manage the project by Bradford Cathedral.
The flagship centre in Forster Square, Bradford, was launched in July last year, kick-started with a £2.2 million cash injection from the Millennium Commission.
The creditors who met in Keighley yesterday were told there was no chance of them getting any of the money they were owed.
The two companies went into administration in February, seven months after opening in the former post office building and following poor visitor numbers.
The liquidator Andrew Wilkinson, a partner in O'Hara & Co of Birstall, said the companies could not pay their debts.
"The final decision to wind up the project was made today. There will be a final meeting of auditors in 12 months time, but that will be just a formal meeting."
His work would be also to investigate if there was any wrong-doing in the running of the project and look into any assets the companies might have.
The Millennium Comm-ission pumped in £2.2 million of the £5 million used to get Life Force off the ground.
When it was opened it was predicted that it would attract 770 visitors a week.
A spokesman for the Millen-nium Commission said the grant had been made directly to the Cathedral, not to the trading companies.
At this stage the Comm-ission was not seeking to claw the money back.
"We have a right to recover the money but we are not seeking to do that. Instead, we are trying to see if there is a way forward for the project," she said.
She understood the closure was temporary and attempts were being made to secure a future for the venue.
