Mohammed Akram produced the outstanding bowling performance of the Bradford League season so far by taking ten wickets as he shattered Cleckheaton to enable Undercliffe to win by 111 runs at Intake Road.

The Pakistani test fast bowler - unerringly accurate off a shortened run - bowled five of his victims and trapped the other five lbw to finish with the superb figures of 14.3-5-25-10.

This is the seventh best analysis in the 98-year history of the league and the 28th time a bowler has taken all ten wickets.

Akram made sure that Cleckheaton had no chance of challenging Undercliffe's 196 for nine, of which new signing John Sadler made 65, including one six and ten fours.

Cleckheaton captain Paul Booth took six for 56 in 17 overs, but his performance was eclipsed by Akram.

The visitors lost their first three wickets for ten runs and, after a brief revival, they slumped from 47 for three to 56 for eight.

Undercliffe's third victory of the season lifted them into fourth place with 20 points, but the question everyone in the Bradford League is asking is 'Who can stop Pudsey Congs?'

The defending champions lost their 100 per cent record at Baildon, but only just as the home side held on for a point at 121 for nine in reply to Congs' 164 for nine.

Congs' innings was dominated by Barbar Butt, who hit two sixes and six fours in his 91.

He came in when opener Andy Bethel was out at 23 and held the innings together until he was eighth out at 158.

Baildon must have fancied their chances at the interval, but Congs' pacemen Naveed Rana-Ul-Hassan and Neil Gill quickly shattered their hopes.

They lost their first two wickets for eight and when Hassan took three wickets in four balls to leave them in deep trouble at 31 for five, a one-point draw was the height of their ambitions.

Simon Davies and Mark Bray began the fightback with a sixth-wicket stand of 46, which more than doubled the score, but Baildon ultimately owed their draw to Davies' disciplined innings of 40 not in 34 overs.

Congs scented victory when Hassan took the ninth wicket with the first ball of the final over, but last man Carl Smith guided Baildon through the last five balls. Hassan finished with the outstanding analysis of seven for 29 in 21 overs.

East Bierley, led by Robert Burton in the absence of Dermot McGrath, moved into second place seven points behind Congs after a six-wicket home win over bottom club Brighouse. Paul Carroll led them to victory with an unbeaten 82 after they bowled out the visitors for 151.

Farsley are third following their third win in a row at neighbours Pudsey St Lawrence. All-rounder Cameron Bailey, making his first appearance of the season, top-scored with 54 as Pudsey totalled 172, Farsley reaching their target with three overs to spare.

Hanging Heaton had the better of a drawn match at home to Spen Victoria thanks to a fine all-round performance by Steve Foster (73 and three for 21 off 16 overs).
