Bradford and Bingley marched on in the Sovereign Health Care Priestley Cup second round with a ten-wicket win at Spen Victoria in yesterday's replay.
When the sides met at Wagon Lane a fortnight ago, Spen fought back to level the scores at 150 in a thrilling finish thanks to an unbroken last- wicket stand of 32, but the replay was a one-sided affair.
After restricting Spen to 141 for seven on a slow pitch, Bingley's openers Carl Sharp and Martin South knocked off the runs with little trouble.
Left-hander Sharp hit four sixes and eight fours in his 73, while South hit one six and eight fours in his 66.
They made a careful start in pursuit of their target and had scored only 68 at the 25-over halfway mark.
However, the batsmen accelerated after that and raced to their target with a flurry of boundaries, scoring 76 in 13 overs to enable Bingley to win with 12 overs to spare.
Spen's innings was held together by opener Chris Rowbottom, who batted through before he was out off the last ball for 81, having hit one six and seven fours and faced 144 balls.
They made a slow start before Bingley took the prized wicket of Grant Lambert, caught by Richard McCarthy off off-spinner Richard Wilkinson at 38.
Spen lost wickets at regular intervals as they struggled to step up the tempo as Thomas Owens and skipper Steve Bethel, both went cheaply, as did Richard Yates - the hero of the first match.
They also had the misfortune to lose 18-year-old wicketkeeper Lee God-dard, who was carried off with an ankle injury. He was taken to Dewsbury hospital but fortunately the injury was diagnosed as a sprain rather than a break.
