Owners of Yorkshire Cable have teamed up with Sony to pioneer broadband Internet access for the Playstation 2.
The move means owners of the computer console could soon be playing high speed, online games with opponents from around the world.
Managing director of Telewest, David Docherty, said: "Interactive gaming is an important area under development for Telewest, and working with Sony demonstrates our commitment to maximising the revenue potential of our broadband network.''
Trials for the Telewest Playstation2 system are expected to begin at the end of this year.
