Teenagers unable to find jobs after leaving school could face a depressing and demoralising situation which could have a lasting effect on their characters and attitudes, members of Bradford Chamber of Commerce were told yesterday. Senior vice-president Mr Guy C. Barrett said that this summer about 5,500 young people in the city would be finishing school.

Three awards for industrial National Savings were presented at the Ritz Theatre, Bradford, last night by Alderman J. Russell Rose. The Telegraph and Argus trophies for the highest average savings in three classes were won this year by Crofts (Engineers ) Ltd, for firms with 500 and more employees; Empire Stores Ltd, (100 to 499), and W. H. Smith and Son Ltd, (20 to 99). "It is due to savings efforts like these that this old country of ours can look the world in the face today,"said Alderman Rose.
