A rescue plea by two leading local politicians to save Keighley Cougars has been backed by the Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate.
Last week political foes Ann Cryer (Labour) and Simon Cooke (Conservative) were united in their calls for Bradford Council to support the cash-strapped rugby league club.
Now Lib Dem candidate Mike Doyle has written to Bradford Council chief executive Ian Stewart to press him for support.
Mr Doyle said of Ann Cryer's own letter to the council: "I am delighted fully to endorse the appeal she has made."
He continued: "I hope that Bradford will find itself in a position to help the Keighley Cougars in their time of need, as it previously did Bradford City.
"Both are far more than commercial sports operations, and are very much a part of their local communities, acting as a focus for local pride."
