A local girl has come away from Ilkley's festival of speech and drama with the Yorkshire Television Premier Award.
Amy Harper, 10, who goes to St Anne's Primary School, entered the dualogue class at the Wharfedale Festival.
She performed an excerpt from Mark Twain's story of Tom Sawyer with fellow Stage 84 student Philip Hill, 12, of Clayton.
Amy was thrilled to hear she had come first in the class and even more delighted to hear at a special presentation on Saturday that she had been chosen for the Yorkshire Television award.
The award is for the overall most promising speech and drama pupil, from all the performances at the festival.
Amy has been awarded a cup to mark her achievement and her mother Clare says: "Amy is overwhelmed, it was totally unexpected.
"She has entered other festivals before but has never had such a big award. She has done really well and we're all proud of her."
