A new voice for disabled people in the city has been set up by campaigners.
The Able All Steering Group aims to make sure problems affecting disabled people - for instance over housing and transport - stay near the top of the agenda.
Peter Warwick, a steering group member, said: "Disabled issues are sometimes shelved and put on the sidelines. For instance, there's only one line in the district's 2020 Vision about disability. With all the work going on around multicultural issues we want to redress the balance. Disabled people need a voice, and that's what we want Able All to be."
Mr Warwick, of Windhill, said there were a number of disabled organisations already working hard, but Able All would fill a gap by passing on people's worries directly to leading decision makers.
"There are a number of groups active in this field in Bradford and if we all joined together it would be a really massive voice," he said.
The Bradford Alliance on Community Care made the first moves to set up the group in 1999. This has now led to the setting up of a 12 strong voluntary steering group.
The group is now planning a major forum open to all disabled people and their carers on Saturday June 23 at the Morley Street Resource Centre in Bradford. The aim of the day is for people to share experiences, concerns and views on services for disabled people. Leaders of the scheme will be explaining how they aim to represent people and take their concerns forward on behalf of people from across the district.
