JOHN AKRIGG led Silsden to a Bank Holiday weekend success.

He rattled up 72 not out as they secured victory over Woodhouse on Saturday, and followed up with 59 as they picked up four points for a 'winning draw' against Illingworth on Monday.

Woodhouse posted a total of 187-9 with Hodgson and Mark Akrigg taking three wickets each.

Opener Hayden Tennant perished without scoring but his partner, Chris Meehan put on 25 after teaming up with David Jackson. Akrigg's undefeated 72 was backed up by Chris Thornton (36) and Andy Pullen 28 not out as they secured a six wicket win.

They had to settle for four points on Monday after Illingworth 's late order men dug their heals in.

Silsden set a target of 194 with John Akrigg run out on 59 and Mark Akrigg adding a late flourish with 26.

Andy Pullen and Mark Akrigg made the breakthrough with the ball, but after struggling to 11-6 Illingworth settled for a draw, finally reaching 159-8.

Steeton openers Andy Howarth (64) and Lindsay (43)gave their replay to Menston's 231 a solid foundation on Saturday, but after a middle order collapse they were clet clinging on four two points from the drawn game.

They came very close to beating Skipton who posted a total of 197-9 in the Bank Holiday game. Things were going well in their steady reply, but the fall of four wickets between 113 and 119 struck a cruel blow.

Gary Boulton was 87 not out as they fell jsut 13 runs short.

Steeton 2nds beat Menston by six wickets on Saturday with Alex Gledhill collecting a six-wicket haul as the visitors were dismissed for 105. Mark Gledhill top scored with 38 in the reply.

On Sunday they had to settle for one point from their game at Skipton despite an impressive undefeated knock of 35 from Harrison.

Veteran Ian Pullen was the mainstay of Silsden's 209-9 with 93 including 14 fours and a six. Support came from Paul Tatterton (28) and Dave Wall (25). In Woodhouse's reply John Walwayn hammered 93 in just 86 balls. After he fell Woodhouse lost their way and looked to havce settled for a draw until 16-year-old Matthew Shuttleworth came back to take three for seven in a match winning 13-ball spell.

On Monday they completed a double win weekend with a 53 run victory over Illingworth 2nds. Put in to bat on a wetn wicket Stuart Tillotson (46) and Tim Sugden (58no) were the main contributors to a score of 140-3.

In reply Illingworth were soon in trouble as tight bowling from Dave baluk (3-44) and Matthew Suttleworth (4-24) applied pressure. DAve Wall chipped in with 2-18 and all three were supported by some excellent catching as Silsden won with just four balls to spare.
