DOUGIE LAMPKIN was beaten by a narrow margin in Round Four of the Spanish Trials Championship last weekend.
He lost out to young Spanish rider Adam Raga on a tie decider, but despite the defeat Lampkin still managed to extend his lead in the championship.
After the event he said: "I've made msitakes today and paid the price, but to be fair to Adam he rode exceptionally well."
Lampkin went on to dominate a 'Trash and Crash' Super Trial held at Bangor Northern Ireland on Bank Holiday Monday.
On a course set out along the promenade he displayed his incredible skill riding a standard Montesa machine as his four factory bikes had already been shipped to Japan and America for forthcoming World Championship rounds.
He reached the six-man final and faced rival Steve Colley in the head-to-head with victory already in the bag. Although he won overall Colley took the speed duel by less than a wheel's width.
After the event his said: "A crowd of 10,000 is absolutely fantastic and this is a competition which is sure to become a fixture in the calendar."
