GOLFERS raised over £700 for charity at the annual Keighley Lions Charity Golf Day.

The bumper cash total is to be divided between the local hospital renal units and Hearing Dogs for the Deaf.

The competition took place at Keighley Golf Club with the course and facilities made available free of charge. "With superb weather everyone really enjoyed the event," said Lions President, Avril Emmerson.

There were a string of competitions during the day witht he Bingley St Ives Golf Club team of Carol Firth, G Moulds, J Cunningham and A Bairstow winning the team prize with a score of 94 points. They received gift vouchers for £50.00 and Crystal Decanters each.

Leading for most of the day until knocked into second place by Carol's team were the team from Hill Hire in Bradford, with a score of 89. They were, Brian Whitney, A Smith, R Bowles and W Beaumont, who recieved vouchers for £40.00 and golf umbrellas.

Third were, Shipley Nomads, John Greenwood, P Ellison, J Hird and P M Coote with a score of 87, they each received vouchers for £30.00 and golf balls.

Forth were, Scott Janitorial, A Hesp, K Humphries, W Patrick and P Simpson with a score of 84, receiving vouchers of £20.00 and golf balls each.

Fifth were, MGI Watson Buckle, Chris Padgett, P Moran, G Court and J Tattersall whose score of 81 earned them the last team prize of vouchers for £10.00 and golf balls each.

Longest drive on the 18th was wone by Craig Moorby of Advanced Stairlifts whose company also donated the £100.00 'Hole in One' prize which went to the charity fund as nobody scored an ace.

The three 'Nearest the Pin' prizes were won by, T.Laurie on the 8th, B.Whitney on the 11th and B.Massam on the 14th.
