Craig Thornton produced his best bowling performance in the Secure Trust Bank Brandford League Division One as Yeadon crushed bottom club Brighouse by 105 runs.

Brighouse must have been happy at the interval after dismissing Yeadon for 161, skipper David Jay bowling unchanged to take five for 68 in 24.1 overs.

Thornton had other ideas, however, as he came on as first change to capture eight wickets for only six runs in ten overs to bowl out Brighouse for a paltry 56.

Earlier Damian Gormley (54) and Ullah (43) held the Yeadon innings together with a third- wicket stand of 81.

Prospects look bleak for Brighouse, who are seven points adrift at the bottom of the table with only one point from eight matches, and they are not much better for Gomersal.

They crashed to a ten-wicket defeat at neighbours Cleckheaton and remain next to the bottom with only eight points, nine behind Bradford and Bingley, who are immediately above them.

Paceman Matthew Brooke was the chief destroyer, taking seven for 22 in 11.5 overs as Gomersal were bowled out for 51.

Cleckheaton openers Mark Gill and Paul Winrow knocked off the runs required for victory in a mere 8.4 overs to produce the quickest finish of the day.

Baildon enjoyed a comfortable seven-wicket win at Undercliffe after bowling out the home side for a disappointing 130, left-arm slow bowler Mushtaq Ahmed taking four for 26. The target presented no problems to Baildon, opener Simon Davies top-scoring with 51.

There was a tense finish at Bingley, where third-placed Hanging Heaton gained a four-point draw when the weather looked a likely winner.

Chasing Hanging Heaton's 179 for eight, Bin-gley's hopes of victory disappeared when they lost five wickets for 23 runs as play continued in light rain.

Then, when skipper Pat Fordham was run out to leave Bingley in trouble at 120 for eight, the umpires took the players off, and it looked unlikely they would return.

However, play resumed after 11 minutes and, although Hanging Heaton took another wicket - that of Peter Graham - last-wicket pair Craig Cockshott and Graham Smith played out for a draw at 135 for nine. Steve Foster was Hanging Heaton's most successful bowler with five for 37 in 21 overs.

The Pudsey derby was ruined by the weather and the sides had to settle for one point each. Leaders Congs totalled 223 for nine, the high-light being a fine innings of 83 from opener Andy Bethel, including 13 fours.

However, rain started to fall during the tea interval and 36 minutes and 12 overs were lost. Even so, St Lawrence made a brave attempt but finished 20 runs short on 203 for eight in their 38 overs after losing four wickets for 16 runs. James Smith was top scorer with 65.

The Spen Victoria-East Bierley match was also ruined by the weather, both sides taking one point. Opener Grant Lambert was top-scorer with 53 in Spen's 175 for nine as Matthew Barnes took five for 73.

Bierley were soon in trouble at 38 for six, Lambert and Kez Ahmed taking three wickets each, but opening batsman, skipper Demot McGrath, held firm and finished unbeaten on 53 out of 106 for seven after two rain breaks.
