Jason Maxwell is poised to sign a new two contract as manager Bradford Park Avenue Trevor Storton looks to him to extend his fruitful striking partnership with Andy Hayward.
Maxwell and Hayward scored 47 goals between them as Avenue won the UniBond League First Division title by a ten point margin and Storton believes they can do just as well if not better in the Premier Division.
He said: "Jason's old contract expired at the end of last season and he will be signing for another two years.
"It would be nice to keep him and Andy Hayward together.
"In fact, I think Andy will show more of his best form in the higher division. His game might be better suited to the Premier Division and I want playeds to olay off him."
Both strikers brought their experience of higher grade to bear in Avenue's march to the championship as well as the crucial knack of goal scoring, Hayward with 25 and Maxwell with 22.
Maxwell, who joined them from Gainsborough Trinity, played briefly at Scunthorpe United earlier in his career and still lives in the town.
Hayward, who played league football at Rotherham United, joined Avenue from Frickley.
Meanwhile, Storton is looking for two more signings to strengthen his squad to meet the demands of the higher division.
"I have got a couple of lads who could be interested," he said. "It just depends on how much money they are looking for.
"We want another forward and I would also like a left winger to give us more width than we have enjoyed on that side of the field."
Avenue are well served on the right hand side of their attack with Dean Calcutt, who was one of their most influential players last season.
