Police were today hunting a murder suspect after a man died from stab wounds at a house in Bradford.

The heavily bloodstained suspect was tackled by a teenager as he ran from the scene but after a struggle he managed to escape.

Officers described the stabbing, in Parkway, West Bowling, as a "domestic-type" attack and stressed it was not related to the violent disturbances in the city.

A police spokesman said officers and ambulance crews were called to the address shortly before 8pm last night.

"In the lounge they found a 24-year-old man with puncture wounds to his upper body.

"Attempts to resuscitate him failed and he was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics."

The spokesman said a 37-year-old man, who is known to the police, was seen running from the house, covered in blood.

He has not been found and police appealed for help in tracing him.

The spokesman added: "Shortly after 8pm in Springwood Avenue an 18-year-old Asian man challenged and briefly detained the suspect before he escaped.

"The police are appealing for witnesses who maybe saw the suspect in Springwood Avenue and who might have seen this brave and public spirited man struggling with him."

Anyone who saw the suspect running from the house or struggling with the young Asian man in Springwood Avenue should ring Bradford Central Police on 01274 376485/376459.
