Forgotten man Aidan Davi-son is ready to fight for the Bradford City goalkeeper's jersey.

With Matt Clarke back after turning down a loan chance with Fulham, Davi-son faces an uphill battle to displace Gary Walsh as City's No 1.

He nearly went to Cardiff in March and has been linked elsewhere. But, des-pite playing only two league games last season, Davison is prepared to tough it out at Valley Parade.

He said: "I believe I've been linked with just about every club in the country who needs a goalkeeper. But I certainly haven't spoken to anybody else.

"I will just sit tight, get my head down and hopefully something will happen here.

"It was frustrating last year not to get as many games as I thought I should have, but there's not much you can do about it."

Four clubs are said to be interested in making a permanent move for Clarke, including Fulham.

Clarke's agent Ian Elliott said: "We will certainly be exploring some options, but there is nothing going on that I'd wish to comment on at the moment."

Benito Carbone was back in training with City yesterday as they began three days of fitness work at the Catter-ick army barracks.

lPortsmouth today confirmed they have paid the £500,000 still owed to City as part of Lee Mills' £1.2 million move last summer. Club spokesman Peter Jeffs said: "It was a storm in a tea cup."
