OTLEY RUFC continue their preparations for the new season and although a first team skipper has not yet been appointed it has been decided that the Saracens' skipper will be Steve Hudson with Steve Cooper as Saracens' team manager.
Officers elected at the AGM were: President - Eric Bryden; Vice President - Peter Fisher; Chairman - Paul Jaques; Secretary - Marc Lawrence; Treasurer - Steve Cooper; Director of Rugby -Michael Wright; Fixture Secretary - Ronnie Franks; Membership Secretary - David Wakes; Press Officer - John Finch; House Chairman -Steve Watson; Ground Chairman - John Gauton; Sponsorship Chairman - John Harker; Ladies' Chairman - Sue Henry; Junior Chairman - Brian Hartley.
The fixture list has not yet been finalised by Twickenham. Practice matches will be held on Saturday, August 18, at Kendal and Wednesday, August 22, at home to Leeds Tykes.
First team players Andy Brown and Paul Williams have been appointed new Academy coaches. They met with the new colts squad to go over the plans for next season last Thursday.
The Academy aims to be 'the finishing school' in developing junior players for senior rugby and will focus on the Colts' programme but also bring in the Under-16/17 age groups.
Andy and Paul are keen to set out structured individual fitness and skills training plans for the players. Academy training will be held on Tuesdays at 7pm, the first session being on July 17. New Under-19 players are welcome and should contact Bob Allewell on 0113 2507547 to register
