Guiseley AFC have announced that for the season 2001-2002 they will continue to play at Nethermoor.
Exploratory talks with Keighley Cougars RL Club regarding the possibility of a ground share arrangement have not been concluded due to the on-going financial problems of the Rugby League club.
With the start of the soccer season rapidly approaching a decision has been made to stay at Nethermoor for the time being.
Club Chairman Phil Rogerson said: "The club feels that its home is at Nethermoor and wishes to continue to play there but the inability of Leeds City Council to resolve the legal status of the ground and clarify the position regarding the lease which expires in October 2003 makes the club's tenure very insecure.
"An alternative strategy would be a move to a site locally where a community-based club that served all age groups could be developed. The obvious site for this would the High Royds Hospital site where a joint scheme could be developed with the St Mary's Sports College.
"In the short term the fundamental problem of the club's development still remains in that Nethermoor needs to be brought up to the standards of the Unibond Premier League by the end of the current season if the club is to remain at Nethermoor beyond this time.
"The likely re-organisation of the Nationwide Conference to incorporate a second division within the next two to three years and the possible reduction in the number of teams immediately below the Conference first division could result in stagnation for the clubs who fail to make it into this second division. "Guiseley need to progress during the current season in order to avoid this fate and are looking for the support of the City Council, local councillors and the community as a whole in order to help make this happen.
"If this help and support is not forthcoming and progress is not seen to be being made by early spring then the club feels that it will have little alternative but to look further afield for a new home."
Guiseley kick off their season at home to Leek Town on Saturday, August 18, at 3pm. After a disappointing previous season, there's no doubt that they'll be looking for one aim - to get back into the UniBond Premier Division.
The Reserve team were notified this week that another new club has joined the Lancashire League in which they compete. Chester City have now joined Barrow, Accrington Stanley, Ossett Town and Rossendale as newcomers.
