The Under-13s hockey squad from the Girls Grammar School, Bradford have been named the fourth best team in the country after competing in the national finals of the seven-a-side national schools and clubs competition in Staffordshire.
Previously, the girls had won the regional, West Yorkshire, Yorkshire and Humberside and North of England rounds to go through.
Bradford beat Felsted School (East) 2-0, but lost three matches against Spratton Hall School (Midlands) 3-1, Gosport Hockey Club (South) 1-0 and Port Regis School (West) 2-1.
Three Bradford Hockey Club juniors played in the North East England Under-13s team which won the Divisional Tournament at Leeds Metropolitan University.
Thomas Handley, Ashley Hadcroft and Daniel Barstow were in the North East team who had victories over the Midlands, West of Scotland, South West and the North West to reach the final where they beat the much fancied East of England side, on a penalty shoot out after a 1-1 draw. Hadcroft also received an award for being joint top scorer of the tournament.
