Yorkshire's exhilarating win over Surrey at Headingley yesterday left them in with a real chance of achieving double glory this season.
The six wicket triumph, brought about by a stunning unbroken partnership of 160 between Gary Fellows and Craig White, earned them a home tie against Warwickshire in the quarter-finals of the Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy.
They are well capable of brushing off that challenge and going right on to lift the Trophy at Lord's in the season's showpiece final on September 1.
In addition, they are currently 33 points clear at the top of Division One of the CricInfo Championship table and yesterday's result has boosted confidence ahead of the two matches they still have to play against title-holders Surrey.
They also have to meet Surrey twice in the Norwich Union League and jubilant skipper David Byas said: "At present we are 1-0 up and I hope that by the end of the season we will have beaten them 5-0."
Fellows deservedly picked up the man-of-the-match award for his flawless 80 off 89 balls with eight fours - the highest score of his career in any match for Yorkshire.
And White was just as impressive in making easily his biggest knock of the season with 73 from 88 balls with five boundaries.
The fifth wicket pair, who started their stand on Wednesday night when Yorkshire were in big trouble on 84 for four, never gave the slightest chance as they homed in on the stiff 244 target which was reached with 11 balls to spare.
"Our first task at the start of our stand was to get ahead of the required scoring rate so that we would be certain of going through even if there was no play on the second day," said Fellows.
"We managed to do that and when we resumed we decided to score as many singles as possible as well as hitting the bad balls for four in order to put Surrey under a great deal of pressure.
"We have been a bit inconsistent in one-day cricket this season and sometimes we just need to back ourselves a bit more. We are looking to going all the way to Lord's and we certainly fancy our chances against Warwickshire at Headingley in the quarter finals."
Yorkshire now need to play well against Leicestershire Foxes at Scarborough on Sunday if they are to get out of the Division One relegation zone in the Norwich Union League.
