Two schoolgirls needed hospital treatment after their bus was impaled by scaffolding.
A lorry carrying scaffolding collided with a Keighley and District Travel run school bus.
The double-decker, which shuttles pupils to Oakbank School's Top Site was parked in North Street, opposite Turner and Wall Solicitors, at around 8.30am, yesterday. Keighley and District Travel operations manager Jeff Smith said the driver was collecting fares and chatting to students when there was a bang, jolt and screams from upstairs.
A lorry carrying scaffolding had collided with the bus, piercing the off side of the top deck.
Four youngsters -- three girls upstairs and one boy downstairs - were on board. Two girls were treated for shock at Airedale Hospital but discharged later.
The boy, who was unharmed, caught another bus to school. No one else was injured.
Police were called to the scene by paramedics and are investigating the cause of the accident. The Health and Safety Executive is also investigating.
