A Band that saw a priceless collection of sheet music go up in smoke has been inundated with offers of help.
The Bradford Metropolitan Concert Band had lost the collection of music that it had built up over 25 years when the Girlington Conservative Club was targeted during the riots. Along with it went uniforms and instruments.
But now the band has been offered help by various organisations. Shirley Dixon, publicity officer for the band, said: "We've been offered a practice room by St Chad's and the West Yorkshire Fire Service band have offered to help - they're as upset as us. So far we've also had some offers of instruments for loan."
Meanwhile, leaders of the 112-year-old Girlington Conservative Club have vowed to rebuild their centre, either on the same site or another one.
Meetings are being held temporarily at St William's Church Hall. "They may have destroyed our building, but they can't destroy our club," said David Parrott, president.
