ODDS-ON for relegation earlier in the season, Steeton are putting up a bonny survival fight. They claimed a more than useful win in a tight encounter at Beckwithshaw.
Jonathan Smith's five wicket haul included a hattrick in the final over as the home side were dismissed for 153. Smith also contributed an unbeaten 41 but it needed a boundary by James Greenwood off the final ball to seize all points.
Silsden's B division challenge is faltering after a nine wicket home thrashing by Calverley. Against the attack of Lee and Theron, they were skittled for 68. Calverley lost a wicket to the first ball they faced but then proceeded to an easy victory.
Harden kept their C division promotion hopes alive with a three wicket win at Upper Wharfedale. Paul Spencer (71) and Andy Moulds (50) set about the Dalesmen's attack as Harden rattled up the necessary 248 runs.
Pushing for their first win, Silsden Secs ended hanging onto a point. At 141-3 with eight overs left and needing 40 to win, they slumped alarmingly and needed their last pair to play out the last few balls.
Steeton Secs were denied by Illingworth's rearguard action. Solid middle-order contributions came from Gledhill (74) and Tunney (52).
