Dougie Lampkin emerged from rainswept Andorra with his fifth world trials champion title in as many years, making his total now ten - five indoor and five outdoor.
He went to Andorra determined to win both days of the ultra-tough contest but Sherco-mounted duo Graham Jarvis and Marc Freixa had other intentions and kept him off the top spot.
But the Silsden man needed only five points on Saturday to settle the title battle and as it was he scored 34 points in the Andorra hills.
"I am delighted I have taken the title so early. I thought I had done enough to win today, but to be fair to Graham, he must have had a brilliant last lap.
"I like to win every event and I have learnt to accept I will be beaten on occasions. My dad and my cousin James have been brilliant and have worked really hard for me as have the lads at Montesa-HRC, who have given me great support.
"After I celebrate with my family and friends, my next task is to win the Czech Republic round in two weeks. The championship is won but there are more trials to be won."
