Yeadon have reached their second Priestley Cup final in three years despite a brave innings from Chris Gott.
He came close to snatching victory for Pudsey St Lawrence when the rain interrupted semi-final resumed at Tofts Road last night, but they lost by five runs.
Yeadon now play Baildon in the final at Undercliffe on Sunday, August 12.
Resuming at 71 for three, still needing 156 to win off 25 overs, Pudsey were staring defeat in the face when they lost their two not out batsmen, captain Iain Priestley and James Smith at 94
However, Gott had other ideas as he took on Yeadon with a hard-hitting innings of 76, including five sixes and five fours.
Unfortunately for Pudsey, he was out in the next to the last over, caught at wide long-on by Damon Gormley going for another big hit off Craig Thornton, the ball after he smote the Yeadon captain for the fifth six of his innings.
Pudsey were left still needing 15 to win off the last over, but the task proved beyond their ninth wicket pair, Craig Thomas and Gary Severn.
They managed to score nine runs off Grant Soames' first five balls before he trapped Severn lbw with the last ball of the match with Pudsey still needing six runs to win.
Pudsey, who had lost three wickets for 39 the night before were pinning their hopes on a big stand from Priestley and Smith, but, when they had put on 55, Priestley was brilliantly caught low down at extra cover by Damon Gormley of Naeem Khan and, without addition Smith was caught behind by wicketkeeper Peter Hebden off Gulsheraz Ahmed.
Pudsey also lost Yorkshire second team bowler Paul Hutchison at 107 and Gurdev Singh at 138.
At that stage, Pudsey needed an exceptional innings to give themselves a chance and Gott provided it. Four of his sixes came off Thornton, but the Yeadon captain had his revenge, just in the nick of time and, with Gott's dismissal went Pudsey's hopes of victory. Ultimately, they paid the price for allowing Yeadon to score 100 runs off their last ten overs.
If Gott was Pudsey's hero, Gormley was man of the match. Not only was he top scorer with 78 not out, but he also took two wickets and two catches to help Yeadon to book their place in the Bradford League showpiece.
