Divers searching for a Brad-ford man who went missing after a late-night swim in the Lake District have found his body.
The grim discovery was made at 3.30pm yesterday after frogmen spent the day combing Thirlmere for 32-year-old Nadim Ahmed Rashid, of Bradford Moor.
A police spokesman today confirmed it was Mr Rashid and the Coroner has been informed.
Sergeant David Willetts, of Cumbria Police, said the 13 relatives and friends who had been keeping a vigil at Thirlmere since Mr Rashid, went missing were in a very emotional state.
"They had been told to expect the worst and were expecting him to be found dead, but obviously they are very upset," said Sgt Willetts.
Mr Rashid had been camping with five friends when he decided to go for a lone swim on Sunday night. When he failed to return to his friends, who were having a barbecue, they called the police at about 11pm.
A team of six divers was called in and spent over 12 hours searching the five-mile-long lake on Monday and Tuesday.
A helicopter from RAF Boulmer in Northumberland scoured the area and police officers and dogs searched woods and the water, which is about two miles from Keswick in Cumbria.
Thirlmere is a reservoir owned by United Utilities and swimming is discouraged.
Cumbrian Police spokesman Mike Head said: "The water is very cold. Even in summer only the top six inches get warm and underneath it is freezing."
A spokesman for United Utilities said: "Swimming is prohibited in reservoirs and we have signs up telling people that it is not allowed, but every year it happens and every year there are tragic accidents.
"People often get into difficulties swimming in reservoirs because they are very cold and very deep and there are extremely dangerous currents near the underwater intake pipes. We are currently running a national safety campaign to highlight these dangers."
