Dutchman Michel Evans will discover his Bradford City fate within the next 48 hours.
Boss Jim Jefferies has promised to give a verdict on the trialist striker by the weekend.
He said: "Michel has done well so far and looks a really good athlete. He is quick and works hard.
"We had a half-hour practice game yesterday afternoon which was the first chance we've had to see him in action.
"We're going to have another one to take another look and then we'll make a decision.
"The lad is very keen and has really worked in training. We'll make up our mind up on him before the weekend."
Evans, 25, is trying his luck in England after six years with Dutch club VVV Venlo.
He said: "I would love to get a contract with Bradford. Hopefully I will get a chance to sign for the team."
Australian winger Dino Mennillo, who has the offer of a possible year's contract at Valley Parade, is currently spending a week's trial at Walsall.
