A WOMAN is organising a trash and treasure sale to raise cash for the charity which is helping her young grandson.
Audrey Hall, of Wrexham Road, in Burley-in-Wharfedale, says she wishes to give something back to the Elizabeth Foundation for deaf children.
Mrs Hall's 14-month-old grandson, Ben, has profound hearing loss.
Ben, who lives in Skipton, with his parents, Sally and Steven Hall, has been enrolled in a pre-school programme at a new facility based at Bradford Royal Infirmary, for the last three months.
In a partnership with the Elizabeth Foundation, the centre teaches children to communicate and offers their parents counselling to come to terms with their child's hearing difficulties.
The charity believes all deaf children should be taught to speak and be fitted with hearing aids as quickly as possible.
Mrs Hall said: "My grandson was the first baby to start going. He is responding well to what they are teaching.
"My son and daughter-in-law are getting support as well. It is a wonderful thing."
Mrs Hall and two friends have now set about organising the trash and treasure sale - and say items are already flooding in.
"We have had a good response. People have been great. It is not a jumble sale, it is upper class," said Mrs Hall.
Ben's mum Sally Hall, 37, said: "The Elizabeth Foundation has been invaluable to us. Since we started going in January Ben is just developing really well. We are really pleased with his progress.
"Audrey wants to help in any way she can to raise money for it. Any help we get is really gratefully received."
The group's stockpile of goods has even been augmented with the donation of a television by a local company.
Donations of good quality clothes, toys, books and bric-a-brac are still being sought.
Anyone wishing items to be collected should telephone Audrey Hall on (01943) 862370, Kath Bennett on (01943) 863672 or Angela Pickard on (01943) 863258.
The sale will take place in the Parish Rooms, off Station Road, in Burley, on Saturday, August 11.
