Appalling housing conditions in the Turner Street and Naseby Street area of Listerhills are among the worst in Bradford, says Coun. Garry Rawnsley, in a question for tomorrow's meeting of Bradford Metropolitan Council. In his question, also in a letter to the Chief Housing Officer, Coun. Rawnsley urges swift action - if necessary ignoring the housing points scheme - to get people rehoused more quickly.

A forty-eight year old Halifax newsvendor was charged at Halifax today with non-payment of a fine. He owed £4 12, said the Magistrates Clerk (Mr.J.A. Sutcliffe). An officer told the court: "We got 50s. from him last night and he has paid £2 1s. today. That leaves a shilling owing."
Mr. Sutcliffe: "We'll call that paid. We'll pay the shilling for him".
