IT is every young cricketer's dream to play for England and 14 year-old Lucy Denison is set to fulfil that dream.

The Guiseley School pupil who captains Yorkshire Girls Under-15 team has now been selected for the England squad to play at Bradfield College near Reading in August against the Scottish open age team.

Lucy also helped her Yorkshire side get to the finals of the county championships on Sunday along with fellow Guiseley player Amelia Richardson.

When the match at Bardsey was reduced to ten overs due to rain Nottinghamshire were reluctant participants. They made 54-1 but Yorkshire, inspired by an unbeaten 26 from Lucy, achieved their target in 9.4 overs.

They now go on to the final which will be played at Oundle the day after her England appearance.

An opening bat and useful bowler Lucy played cricket with the Under-12s at Yeadon before moving on to Green Lane and then Guiseley. She is however more at home in the extended overs game played at county level than limited overs junior cricket.

She averages over 50 with the bat for Yorkshire and last year made 119 in the final at Ampleforth. She has had some impressive scores for the county with her last six scores prior to Sunday being 40, 44, 66 no, 14, 119 no and 64. Lucy played for the Airedale and Wharfedale League's Lord Taverners side last year and made 40 in the final against boys.
