A man who was trapped inside Manningham Ward Labour Club as it burned down around him during the recent riots in Bradford was treated in hospital by his unsuspecting daughter after an angina attack.
Steve O'Connor and his wife Maggie, right, were trapped in a toilet cubicle at the club as it was attacked by rioters earlier this month.
The 62-year-old, from Manningham, was rushed to Bradford Royal Infirmary after suffering an angina attack.
Working at the hospital was his daughter, nurse Julie Mortimer, who turned to treat the latest admission and discovered it was her dad.
Mr O'Connor said: "Julie was just finishing her night shift and I think I was her last case. She must have got the shock of her life when she turned around and saw me.''
He added: "The worst thing since the fire has been that no one official has been to talk to us, to listen to our story."
Mrs Mortimer, who had been unaware her father was at the club, was just finishing a ten-hour night shift on Sunday, July 8, during which she had helped to treat the scores of injured police officers brought in from the riot scenes.
She said: "We were just winding down and I heard the bell ring for the ambulance so I went round - and saw my dad in the cubicle. It was a shock to say the least and not the end to the night I was expecting.
"I was quite annoyed with him at first because I did not know he was going out.''
But she added: ''However, he was released from hospital later that day."
Mr O'Connor and his wife Maggie, 45, have been undergoing counselling since the attack.
They were forced to remain in a cubicle where they became trapped and separated from the rest of the people in the club who were in a cellar behind the bar.
The couple say they were not found by police until about 30 minutes after everyone else.
Mrs O'Connor said that following the violence she and her husband felt they could no longer stay in their home.
"We feel like prisoners in our own homes, we're going to have to move now," she said.
"We've had racial abuse shouted at us and fireworks put through our windows. With this and what's happened at the club we've got to move out."
