Bicycling television presenter Adam Hart-Davis pedalled into Bradford to collect his honorary doctorate.
The broadcaster, whose best known programme is the BBC2 show Local Heroes, met members of the University Bike Users Group after picking up his Doctor of Science award.
In the programme, which started in 1992 as a regional series for YTV, he travels around the country on his bike talking about scientists and their discoveries, and conducting experiments and demonstrations.
He has also invented and produced Scientific Eye, the most successful school science series on television - used at home in around 70 per cent of secondary schools, and exported to 35 countries.
His doctorate was awarded in recognition of "his distinctive contributions to popularising science and technology, and in particular for his long running series Local Heroes."
The honour has also been made in respect of his contributions to the public perception of the Bradford district, through programmes dealing with major local figures.
Today MORI chairman Professor Bob Worcester and pharmaceutical firm boss Frank Fildes will be presented with honorary doctorates, along with the last of the 1,800 students to graduate this summer.
