Patriotism will prevent Aussie Mick Withers lining up against his fellow countrymen for Great Britain at the end of the season.

The Bulls full back is eligible for GB through an Irish grandparent. That enabled him to represent Ireland in last year's World Cup.

His superb recent form had put him in the frame for a Test call-up by new coach David Waite and his assistant, Bulls boss Brian Noble.

But Withers finally called time on the idea yesterday.

"Great Brit-ain is not for me," he declared.

"I would love to have played Test match football but it just wouldn't be right.

"I did think about it but I know I would have copped too much stick too."

Meanwhile Gloucester Rugby Union club are the latest to be linked with a move for Bulls stand-off Henry Paul.

Reports last night claimed he was ready to sign a four-year deal with the Zurich Premiership outfit.

Paul was in training at Odsal today for Sunday's derby clash with Leeds Rhinos at Valley Parade and has not been prepared to comment on his future.

But coach Brian Noble said: "Henry was only back at the club yesterday but more talks are planned and I would expect to have a decision by the end of the week."

Tickets for the clash with Halifax Blue Sox at The Shay on Sunday week will go on sale to season ticket holders only at Valley Parade immediately after the Rhinos game.

The match is all-ticket with a capacity of just over 6,000.
