Skipton CI kept their Wynn Cup hopes alive after a dramatic semi-final tie against holders Haworth at Ingrow last Sunday.
The teams will try again on Sunday (July 22) at Bradley CC, the same day that Haworth second team will be taking on Thornton Seconds at Carleton in the Cowling Cup semi-final. Long Lee and Embsay, who meet at Glusburn, are also vying for a Cowling Cup final place.
At Ingrow, the Skipton side got away to a poor start with the loss of Jon Sharpe before a run was scored and Luke Walker followed at six.
Kieran Coe (21) and Ian Burke (49) then got the innings back on track with 52-run stand and then a 47-run partnership between Burke and Nick Williamson (37) helped moved things on again.
With Jamie Rowell finishing with 6-43, Skipton were never able to get the upper hand, but they closed at 154-8, which was fairly respectable given their initial problems.
Jamie Rowell (69no) provided the backbone to the Haworth innings, but crucially, when the game reached the last two balls, they still needed six runs to win. A four from Frank Rowell and a single earned the tie, but a run-out going for the winner meant a replay on Sunday and more palpitations for Haworth supporters.
In Round One of the competition they beat Ingrow St Johns off the last ball of the game and in the second round they had only two wickets in hand in toppling Thornton.
There were no such anxieties for Oakworth, who held the whip hand in the bowling department against Pendle Forest at Gargrave.
They had Kevin Hird taking 4-18 in 12 overs as the Lancashire side were bowled out for 124, skipper Nick Swinbank defying the Oakworth attack to chisel 14 runs from 100 balls in 104 minutes.
Oakworth lost three wickets reaching 60, but then Michael Scarborough (50no) and Adam Fradley (18no) then saw the side to a seven-wicket win and a place in the final for a second successive year without further alarms.
