Local schools have had to settle for 'mid table' end positions in a new investment management competition.
Horsforth School and Bradford Grammar School came fourth and fifth respectively, out of a field of 12, in the first BWD Rensburg Investment Management 'share race'.
The competition saw teams of ten business and economics students from each of the schools fighting to see who could invest a theoretical £100,000 most effectively. Leeds-based stockbrokers BWD launched the scheme to give pupils a greater understanding of investment, quoted companies and the stock market.
Knaresborough's King James School took top position, with a 'current stock value' of £114,411 on the competition's end date.
Giggleswick School, in Settle, came close to breaking even by ending with £96,977 and securing third position, while the Girls' Grammar School, Bradford, took seventh place.
