The Bradford League are going to examine the Priestley Cup and Shield rules to make sure they are crystal clear.
Chairman Graham Reid made this promise to club representatives after the league faced criticism from Bankfoot representatives over the decision to throw the club out of the Priestley Shield semi-finals.
The league made the decision because Bankfoot fielded an ineligible player, batsman and university student David Priestley in their quarter final win against Pudsey Congs.
Priestley, who scored 127 not out in their defeat of Congs was ruled ineligible by the league because he had not played the required number of league matches to qualify for the third round of the shield.
Reid told Bankfoot chairman Paul Rafferty who led the protests: "We will have everything spelled out so there is no misinterpretation."
President Albert Smith told Bankfoot: "If the present rule is open to misinterpretation why didn't you ring myself or the secretary for clarification."
However, Rafferty said Bankfoot believed their interpretation was correct and Priestley was eligible to play. If there had been any doubt they would have checked.
He added: "Within the rules of the Bradford League there should be the right of representation. That is a fundamental human right."
Reid promised to look into the points raised by Bankfoot, including the right of representation when similar cases like theirs were being discussed by the league executive.
And, he added: "We are not doubting Bankfoot's integrity. This is a genuine oversight on their part. We accept that no unfair advantage of any nature was intended."
