Two swimmers who were knocked unconcious when one dived 35ft. and landed on top of the other were rescued from the River Ribble, at Stainforth Foss, Stainforth, near Settle. Russell Smith, of Brierfield, and Colin Pickering, of Stainforth, were rescued from the water by Mr. Leslie Marshall of Sheffield and were taken to the Airedale Hospital, where neither was detained.

Problems which face the town planners in Halifax are detailed in a survey report issued today. A statement on the Halifax developement plan reveals that sites are being reserved for 14 primary schools, eight secondary schools, two county colleges, one technical college extension, and 14 school extensions.
