A scheme to bar traffic and landscape Darley Street, in one of the main shopping areas of Bradford, will begin next month. The scheme will cost £43,000 and covers the area of Darley Street between Kirkgate and Godwin Street. Shrubs and semi-mature trees up to 18ft. in height will be planted down the steeet, and patterned paving, seats and flowers will be laid.

Dr. Victor H. Hecht, the former City Pathologist, who suggests that a statue of Delius be erected in Bradford, has asked: "What better way could be found to observe Festival of Britain year in Bradford ?" One correspondent who read this question in "City Topics", sends a forthright answer - " There are any number of better ways to observe the Festival than by the erection of statue No.46". There are 45 "open air" statues in Bradford. And none of them honours a man or woman who was actually born in the city.
