Hundreds of people were today expected to visit Bingley Arts Centre on a fact-finding mission to discover more about the town's relief road.
Contractors Amec yesterday launched a two-day exhibition of the major engineering scheme to create a 5km stretch of dual carriageway from Crossflatts to Cottingley Bar.
Representatives of the Highways Agency, their agents Babtie, and contractors designers Arup and Amec were kept busy answering questions from the public about the £47.9million project.
A website has also been set up so computer users can map the progress of the scheme which is due for completion in August 2003.
The site - at bingleyreliefroad.co.uk - includes a question-and-answer section, profiles of people involved, technical details of work carried out and a chat room facility where the contractors can talk to people on the internet.
There are also computer-generated images of the new road and information about environmental measures at the exhibition which is open from 10am to 7.30pm today.
