SETTLE are the first winners of the Upper Airedale Junior League under-13 cup named in honour of former league president John Hindle.
They were indebted to a superb display by Luke Ford, who was in top form in Sunday's final against Steeton at Grassington.
He dominated the match with both bat and ball, scoring 65 of the 72 runs scored from the bat as Settle reached 79 and then taking five wickets.
Ford apart, Steeton's bowlers contained the rest of the Settle batsmen well as Matthew Dobson finished with three for 17.
Michael Harrison and Philip Rishton both scored 13 in the Steeton reply of 55 but Ford ended their hopes with a spell of five wickets for eight runs in a spell of four overs.
S Robinson took three wickets for seven runs.
In the semi-finals Settle beat Upper Wharfedale. The Grassington team scored 102 without loss but Settle reached their target for the loss of just two wickets.
The trophy was presented by Mr Hindle's widow.
