In 1910, by a gift of £5,000 to Bradford Park Avenue Football Club, Mr. A.F. Briggs clears the club's debts.

The nation's leaders of political and industrial life today paid tribute to Bradford-born Lord Feather - who as Vic Feather was General Secretarey of the TUC for four years - who died peacefully in hospital in London today after a stroke. He was 68. Born in Bradford in 1908, his father, a Socialist of deep conviction, named his second son Victor Grayson Hardie after two heroes of the early Labour movement - Victor Grayson and Keir Hardie.

Hundreds of people left Shipley, Bingley and Keighley for their annual Feast holidays. Morecambe was one of the most popular resorts, and there were considerable bookings for Blackpool and Southport, while the Festival of Britain in London was an attraction for many. Over £180,000 was paid out in holiday club money in Keighley, and withdrawals in Shipley were £4,000 up on last year.
