Scores of young singers like Vicky and Joanne Erbin, Nicola Lumb, and Sarah Greiner-Dudaniec, pictured, queued up at Bradford's Alhambra on Saturday in the hope of landing a part in a new musical.

The show, called A Strange Kind of Hero, needs 50 local youngsters to fill the chorus when it arrives in Bradford in September.

The producers of the show, which tells the Biblical story of Saul and his conversion on the road to Damascus, were at the Alhambra Studio in Bradford on Saturday to find the lucky 50 who will be joining its cast of professional actors.

The musical follows in the tradition of musicals such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell and Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat and is visiting Bradford as part of a nationwide tour before heading for London's West End.
