Benito Carbone was back in training with Bradford City today as they prepared for Saturday's Valley Parade friendly with Premiership Blackburn.
The Italian was given "compassionate" leave to miss City's Northern Ireland tour and fly back home after his son suffered a severe asthma attack.
Carbone returned to England on Tuesday and linked back up with his team-mates this morning.
A club official said: "His son is a bit better but is still having to have hospital treatment and was not able to come to England with Beni."
Wayne Jacobs has recovered from the thigh strain which forced him to miss Monday's 2-2 draw with Portadown.
Jamie Lawrence is also getting over a knock but could miss the Blackburn match anyway because Jamaica have a friendly against Swansea.
Lee Makel is still with the City squad as he waits to find out if he will be offered a permanent deal.
Boss Jim Jefferies said: "If we get one or two injuries to the squad we haven't got the resources to buy new players so Lee could be very useful."
The new Sunwin Stand upper section will be open for the first time on Saturday, to City fans only.
Blackburn supporters will be given the Ciba Stand. The Carlsberg Stand, Symphony Stand and North West Corner will not be open for the game.
Admission is £10 for adults, £5 senior citizens and £3 for under-16s via turnstiles W3 to W18. Seats will be unreserved.
