Persistence paid off for Keighey Velo rider John Tingle who sprung a late attack to claim victory in the Laughton Forest Road race.
The win made up for the disappointment of finishing runner-up in the National Veterans Championship at Doncaster. He finished a close second to Jeff Evans of Wakefield with fellow Keighley vet, Brian Northing (Scotthall BMW) leading in the depleted bunch after 60 miles at 24 mph in blistering conditions.
On the time trial scene 24 riders took part in the weekly '10' with John Tingle again to the fore with a time of 23:21, just 27 seconds faster than Brian Northing with Bradford visitor Paul Corcoran third in 23:50.
