FOLLOWING the defeat of their Under-13s theprevious week Steeton Under-15s wnt one better against Long Lee at Cowling.
Their bowlers set off very well, reducing Long Lee to 16 for six and an early finish might have been expected. Steven Doane came to Long Lee's rescue with a calm and well built innings of 42 not out. He was very well supported by the tail end batters, mainly Jackson 12 and Slingsby 13 to take the final total to 109 all out.
Graham Rishton and paul Hardwick were the pick of the Steeton bowlers finishing with four for 20 and two for six respectively.
Long Lee needed early wickets to restore their confidence but the paience of openers Graham Rishton and James Procter saw off the opening attack of Shazad and Hussain.
The Steeton pair continued to accumulate runs steadily. Both batters showed experience far beyond their years and completed the demolition of Long Lee by remianing unbeaten at the end with a partnership of 110 to win in under 23 overs.
Graham Rishton was 60 not out with shots of power and finesse while James Proctor scored 32 notout, his best shot being an extra-cover drive for four in the closing overs.
Rishton was named man of the match for his performance with both bat and ball. The match balls were donated by Willis Walker
