PAKISTANI Test cricketer Rashid Latif brought a team packed with stars of the future to Keighley to take on the town's Cricket Academy side last week -- and attracted a huge crowd to the Lawkholme Lane ground.
Latif and fellow Pakistan international Atiq-ul-Saman drew a crowd of over 2 thousand spectators to watch the Ratif Latif Cricket Academy touring side, which had beaten Yorkshire A the previous day.
The Tourist XI batted first and raced to a 311 total, but the local side took credit from having bowled the team out with young KCA bowler Wajhid Ali taking four wickets for 32 runs. In reply the Academy team were dismissed for 67, but the crowd appreciated a display of top class cricket from the tourists.
Zafer Jadoon was named man of the match and presented with a trophy donated by Haji M Ramzan owner of Keighley Balti House. The winning team were also presented with trophies by Academy chairman Mr Abid Hussain and a Keighley Young Muslims CC track suit was presented to Rashid latif by Javid Zaman.
Organisers of the touring side said Keighley people had given them the best reception of their trip and they hoped to make the area their main base on their next visit.
