Jim Jefferies is hoping to include two foreign trialist midfield players in Bradford City's team for tonight's pre-season friendly at Huddersfield Town.

One is from France and the other from Holland but their identities are being kept secret.

City boss said: "I can't name either player, but I intend to play them tonight if their releases come through in time.

"One plays for a big club in France who don't want to sell him but are prepared to loan him out for the season.

"We have made inquiries in France and our reports say he is worth having a look at."

Jefferies has yet to name a squad although he has confirmed that Lee Sharpe, Peter Atherton, David Weth-erall, Jamie Lawrence and new signing Claus Jorgen-sen will be in the starting line-up.

Sharpe, Atherton and Jorgensen were on the bench for the 2-0 defeat against Blackburn at Valley Parade on Saturday while Lawrence has missed some pre-season training preperation because of his international commitments with Jamaica.

"We want to play a reasonably strong side," said Jefferies, "but we have got our eye on the opening game of the season against Barns-ley on Saturday and we won't be taking any risks with players."

That means there is no place for striker Ashley Ward will again rest his calf strain.

"He feels a bit better," said Jefferies, "but it is still unclear whether he will be fit for the Barnsley match.

"David Wetherall will get another run. We feel he needs games after not playing a lot last season because of his groin injury."

Jefferies is delighted with the response of Sharpe and Atherton, who looked set to leave City after spells on loan with Portsmouth and Birmingham respectively.

"Their attitude has been first class," he said.
