Roger Eli had a great start in his first full season as manager in the Bradford Sunday Alliance Premier Division at Queensbury as his charges ran out 8-0 winners against his former club Stanley Road.

Impressive debutants Luke Shackleton and Ben Needham both scored twice as did 17-year-old Andy Atkinson who, after a hatful of goals in Queensbury's Reserve side last term, showed he will be pushing for a run in the first team with two great goals after coming off the subs' bench.

East Bowling Unity, 3-0 in front at half-time and 4-0 ahead just after the break, looked set to run out comfortable winners before a 60th minute penalty from Roland Egege started a Bradford Moor comeback which saw them claw back to 4-3.

Unity's rivals Albion Sports also led 3-0 at half-time through Stefan Zoll goals in the 15th and 20th minutes and Ahmed Singh's third goal direct from a corner. Calverley Victoria did enough in the second half to show they can improve on last season's relegation escape and scored a late goal through Steve Thompson.

There was plenty of good football in a close game between newcomers Fairwea-ther Green and Oakenshaw. When Oakenshaw had looked the more likely to take the lead it was their old boy Lee Summerscales who opened the scoring direct from a corner when his cross entered the net via a defender. Dean Worrell beat two defenders to lay on a second half equaliser for Carl Grey and although Oakenshaw enjoyed more possession Fairweather were satisfied with a point on their return to the Premier.

There was no such luck for the other promoted side Wrose Bull who went down 4-2 at Bolton Woods. Two second half goals from Paul Sharpe edged Woods into a 4-1 lead before Bull pulled a last minute goal back through a Martin Dolan penalty.

In a game in which debutant keeper Mark Tasker and his defenders Simon Hillman and Danny Ferrand shone, Crown beat Craven Heifer 2-0 with second-half goals from Dave Armitage and Danny Mullarkey.

Division 1A newcomers Holme Wood Athletic made a great start in their new division by sinking Clayton Orient 7-3.

Leading by the only goal of the first half, Holme Wood hit six second-half goals with Luke Wilcox putting away a hat-trick and keeper Phil Spence showing fine form.
